What We're About

Dragonfly Cares

Our goal from the start has been to create a supportive community for the families we work with, while providing clinical care for the children we service.

Dragonfly Cares's staff members truly care about our children, and want more for the families they work with. From reaching developmental milestones to communication skills and sensory integration, our staff is there to support each child grow in their own way. Each therapist is trained and supervised on a regular basis by experienced BCBAs who work with children in a multitude of settings, creating a well-rounded and personalized program for your child.

We commit to never stop learning. Our staff understands that ABA is a growing scientific field, and the most important thing we can do is stay on top of new research and evidence-based practices through continuous learning.

We use state of the art software to monitor your child's goals, growth, and skills. Then, through regular weekly meetings with your BCBA, we not only teach you how to take your own session data, but also explain exactly how goals are progressing and strategies that work best. Our mission is to always be transparent with you, making you feel educated, empowered, and part of our team.

It's our hope that we can help each child thrive and transform into their full potential, but we also know that it takes a village. We want to build that village with you.

Now providing services across all of Nassau and Suffolk Counties. In network with plans on most major insurance carriers, including: Northwell, Aetna, Magnacare, Emblem, and more!

Applied Behavior Analysis

Applied Behavior Analysis, or ABA, is a therapy based on the science of learning and behavior. ABA helps us understand how behavior works, why it happens, and how to make meaningful changes. With this understanding, we can then build skills and reduce challenging behaviors. ABA can help with; Communication and language skills, Social skills (like playing with others or taking turns), Self-care (like brushing teeth, getting dressed), and Reducing behaviors that interfere with learning (like aggression, tantrums, or self-injury)

In ABA therapy, a BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst) is the professional who designs and oversees the child’s treatment plan. They assess the child’s needs, create goals, monitor progress, and train both the family and therapy team. An RBT (Registered Behavior Technician) works directly with the child, following the BCBA’s plan during therapy sessions. The RBT uses ABA strategies to teach skills and manage behaviors, while the BCBA ensures the therapy is effective and makes any needed changes.

At Dragonfly Therapy Cares, we set ourselves apart from other ABA agencies by holding a strong commitment to clinical excellence. Our team goes beyond basic therapy—we deliver personalized, compassionate, and data-driven care that helps each child reach meaningful goals. Through ongoing supervision, collaboration with families, and a focus on ethical, evidence-based practices, we ensure that every child receives the highest quality support. Clinical excellence isn’t just a standard for us—it’s the heart of what we do.

Speech Language Pathology

Speech-Language Therapy is a clinical intervention provided by a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) aimed at evaluating, diagnosing, and treating disorders related to communication, speech, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing across the lifespan.

Dragonfly’s team of New York State licensed Speech-Language Pathologists are here to support the communication needs of school-aged students on Long Island by providing comprehensive evaluation and treatment services. With over 40+ years of combined experience, our highly skilled clinicians have worked in all pediatric settings with a wide range of language delays and disorders including articulation deficits, autism spectrum disorder, language impairments, cerebral palsy, downs syndrome, dyslexia, phonological processes, selective mutism, apraxia of speech, and more! We are driven by our strong ties to the community and the families with which we serve to help our students achieve their speech and language goals and thrive within their school and home settings.

Communication support, with heart: We make our treatment sessions exciting and engaging, increasing the level of engagement and motivation of our students while collaborating with support professionals and parents to ensure effective carry-over into everyday life! Our Speech-Language Pathologists include those that are PROMPT trained, skilled in feeding therapy, and proficient in Augmentative and Alternative Communication. This includes the ability to conduct PROMPT, Feeding, and AAC Evaluations in addition to standard speech and language evaluations. Our clinicians ensure all methods in evaluation and treatment are evidence-based, current, and in keeping with professional standards for exceptional care.
